The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) organized a technical session on Wednesday, March 06, 2024 at the University Grants Commission (UGC) Conference Center at Agargaon in the capital to raise awareness about the use of e-resources.

While speaking as the chief guest at the event, Bangladesh University Grants Commission Chairman (Additional Duties) Professor Dr. Muhammad Alamgir said that, in order to build developed and smart Bangladesh by 2041, we must give emphasis on higher education and research.

Besides, he suggested reducing dependence and emphasizing innovation in information and technology sector.

UGC member Dr. Md. Sajjad Hossain presided over the event while Secretary Dr. Ferdous Zaman; Director of Information Management, Communication and Training Department Dr. Md. Sultan Mahmud Bhuiyan; International Area Manager of IEEE, Colin DiMello delivered the speech in that session.

Dean of School of Science and Engineering of University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB), Professor Dr. M. Mofazzal Hossain presented the main article on various topics of IEEE.

Professor Alamgir said, UGC is working to ensure quality education in the country. For this purpose, importance has been given to research and innovation. IEEE can play a helpful role in publishing research and articles of university teachers in international journals (Q1, Q2, Q3).

Dr. Sajjad Hossain said, teachers, researchers and students are getting easy access to publications in electrical and electronics engineering, computer science and engineering, biomedical engineering, mechatronics, cyber security, internet of things and other branches of engineering. Through this, quality improvement and expansion of knowledge is happening in the field of engineering education and research in the country.

He also said that there is a shortage of quality research and publication in the country. IEEE can play an important role in e-resources field.

UGC UDL Deputy Director Nusrat Sharita presented in the session. Librarians of 29 universities participated in the event. Besides, concerned officials of UGC, IEEE were present.
