State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak sought the cooperation of the South Korean government on various issues including the implementation of a smart city, the establishment of Bangladesh-Korea ICT University, the start-up exchange program, and the establishment of Sheikh Kamal IT Training Center for the purpose of creating skilled human resources. At the same time, the state minister urged South Korean businessmen to invest in the IT sector through G2G and B2B matchmaking.

Zunaid Ahmed Palak made this call in a courtesy meeting with the newly appointed South Korean Ambassador to Bangladesh Park Young-Sik at Sonargaon Hotel Jamuna Hall in the capital on Tuesday. During this courtesy call, they discussed the issues related to the interests of the two countries, especially the development of the ICT sector, mutual cooperation in building Smart Bangladesh.

The ambassador was informed about the 7 project proposals already sent to ERD to enrich the country’s ICT sector in cooperation with South Korea. Ambassador Park Yong-Sik expressed a positive attitude towards the proposed projects and expressed his intention to work closely with Bangladesh in the future.

In the meeting, State Minister Palak said, we have already built digital Bangladesh. By the year 2041, as announced by the Prime Minister, we have started working on building a smart Bangladesh based on the four main pillars of Smart Citizen, Smart Economy, Smart Government, and Smart Society.

Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority Managing Director GSM Zafarullah, Bangladesh Computer Council Executive Director Ranjit Kumar, ICT Division’s Deputy Secretary Md. Monir Hossain, EDGE Project Policy Advisor Abdul Bari Tushar, and other officials were present.
