Mobile operators have the lion's share of 94.25 per cent with 9.42 crore connections. Broadband operators have 57.43 lakh connections while Wi-Max operators are still continuing with 5,000 internet connections, says the BTRC report.

Nine crore connections were recorded earlier in August 2018. The telecom industry saw a decline in growth after BTRC imposed restrictions on top operators – Grameenphone and Robi – showing audit claims of more than Tk 13,000 crore. The industry regained momentum recently after both the operators partially paid the amount following court orders.
