What to expect
This is a one-day, 5 hour, pre-conference event geared towards homeschool families that are getting started on their homeschool journey. This is a stand alone event and you do not need to be attending our 3-day event to participate! This event is $20. However, if you are attending our 3 day event, the price is discounted down to $8.75.
Get ready to hear from some of the best getting started speakers to help you and your family take off on your homeschool journey! It is our desire for your family to succeed at homeschooling to reach the heart of your children.
Speakers
Sonya Shafer
Sonya Shafer is a popular homeschool speaker and writer, specializing in the Charlotte Mason Method. She has been on an adventure for more than 20 years studying, researching, practicing, and teaching Charlotte’s gentle and effective methods of education. Simply Charlotte Mason publishes her many books and provides a place of practical encouragement to homeschoolers at simplycharlottemason.com.
Leslie Nunnery
Leslie is the homeschool mom of 4 children, 3 of which have already graduated and are pursuing God’s plan for the rest of their lives. She is the cofounder of Teach Them Diligently and is the author of several books and classes including most notably Teach Them Diligently, Raising Children of Promise and Heart School, which helps homeschool families thrive by seeing homeschooling as a great tool for discipleship and good parenting. You can connect with Leslie at Teach Them Diligently events, through their podcast and blog, as well as through the free Teach Them Diligently app.
Vicki Bentley
Vicki Bentley is the mother of eight daughters, foster mom of over fifty, and grandma to 23 wonderful grandbabies and ten great-grandbabies (so far). Vicki has homeschooled 17 children since 1988, alongside her husband Jim, and has been a support group leader since 1991. She has served on the executive board and convention committee of the Home Educators Association of Virginia and is a popular speaker at local, state, and national events. She can be found at EverydayHomemaking.com and is the author of My Homeschool Planner, Everyday Cooking, The Everyday Family Chore System, Home Education 101: A Mentoring Program for New Homeschoolers, High School 101: Blueprint for Success, the Homeschool with Confidence series, and other homeschool and homemaking helps. She currently serves as an educational consultant for HSLDA. Vicki has a heart for parents, with practical wisdom and encouraging words.

You Can Homeschool! MTHEA has been answering questions and providing support for Middle Tennessee homeschoolers since 1984. Join the panel’s session as they help answer all of your getting started questions! They will also have helpful information for those who live outside of the state of Tennessee. Do you live in Tennessee, and just getting started homeschooling? The Tennessee Home Education Association (THEA) will have all the details you need about how to legally start homeschooling in Tennessee, choosing between the three homeschooling options in the state, sports options while homeschooling, utilizing co-ops and tutorials, and how to build a network for success! We'll also have a legislative update on the bills being tracked this year that affect home-educators. -

At Teach Them Diligently, we want your family to be as prepared as you can be on your homeschooling journey. This event is meant to help new homeschooling families get a good grasp on the basics and to help get their questions answered!
Nope! This is a stand alone event and you do not need to be participating in our 3-day event in order to attend. However, if you are attending that event, you can save over 50% on the pre-conference event!
In order for you to get the most out of either track, we highly recommend just choosing one or the other.
